NOTES
Why teach on what we will do in Heaven?
1. Brings encouragement
2. Brings empowerment
3. Brings fulfillment
4. Brings comfort
Heaven is:
1. Not boring
2. A real place
3. Earth was to be a reflection of Heaven
Luke 21:28 (AMPC)
28 Now when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.
"Have a heavenly mindset so you are earthly good."
"You do not have to live scared, but live prepared."
Colossians 3:2-3 (AMPC)
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. 3 For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
"Everything we see now is only temporary."
Revelation 21:3-4 (TLB)
3 I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, “Look, the home of God is now among men, and he will live with them and they will be his people; yes, God himself will be among them. 4 He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that has gone forever.”
Heaven is God’s home.
We are God’s people.
Psalm 53:1-3 (NLT)
1 Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! 2 God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. 3 But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one!
God is looking down on us from Heaven.
Heaven is in the northern part of the universe.
Psalm 123:1 (AMPC)
1 Unto You do I lift up my eyes, O You Who are enthroned in heaven.
Perspective and outlook determine our outcome. Be sure to look at the correct things.
What are we going to be doing in Heaven?
1. Reunited with family and friends
1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 (MSG) 17 Then the rest of us who are still alive at the time will be caught up with them into the clouds to meet the Master. Oh, we’ll be walking on air! And then there will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words.
2. Rewarded for faithfulness
John 12:26 (MSG) 26 “If any of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you’ll be where I am, ready to serve at a moment’s notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me.
We will serve God in Heaven and have work to do.
Heaven is where we will be honored and rewarded throughout eternity for what we did on earth.
3. Receive your inheritance
Colossians 3:24 (AMPC)
24 Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).
1 Peter 1:4 (AMPC)
4 [Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
I have an inheritance that is priceless, eternal, and will never end. No one can take our inheritance from us. Our inheritance is waiting for us. God wired Heaven just for you.
Matthew 25:34 (AMPC)
34 Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
I will receive my own kingdom in Heaven.
4. Role and responsibility
Matthew 25:21 (NLT) 21 “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
5. Rejoicing
Revelation 15:2-5 (AMPC) 2 Then I saw what seemed to be a glassy sea blended with fire, and those who had come off victorious from the beast and from his statue and from the number corresponding to his name were standing beside the glassy sea, with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying, Mighty and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God the Omnipotent! Righteous (just) and true are Your ways, O Sovereign of the ages (King of the nations)! 4 Who shall not reverence and glorify Your name, O Lord [giving You honor and praise in worship]? For You only are holy. All the nations shall come and pay homage and adoration to You, for Your just judgments (Your righteous sentences and deeds) have been made known and displayed. 5 After this I looked and the sanctuary of the tent of the testimony in heaven was thrown open,
We will have perfect praise.
How do I get there?
Romans 1:17 (TLB)
17 This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven—makes us right in God’s sight—when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scripture says it, “The man who finds life will find it through trusting God.”
2 Corinthians 5:1 (TLB)
5 For we know that when this tent we live in now is taken down—when we die and leave these bodies—we will have wonderful new bodies in heaven, homes that will be ours forevermore, made for us by God himself and not by human hands.
God makes us ready for Heaven.
Through the teaching of the Bible, and when we put our faith and trust in Christ we will get to Heaven.
